I Have An Announcement!

First of all, I apologize it has been so long since last I posted. But in truth there hasn't been a ton to report on. However, I did promise there would be more details to come in my last post and here is the result of those details...

Friends and Family, I am thrilled to let you all know that I will be marrying Kevin, the love of my life, on July 23, 2010. Now, before you all get too excited ;), the official proposal has not happened yet. I don't think either of us is entirely sure when that's going to take place. But he has asked for my dad's permission to marry me and been given it. So... we're essentially engaged, just without the official proposal... make sense? ;) Unusual, I know, but then again, not much about our relationship has been all that traditional. But we love it!

Family Vacation!

Good morning, dear friends!

I'm sorry it's been so long since I last posted. But I have some updates for you all!

First of all, for those of you who have been wondering, things with Kevin are continuing to go very well for us. No details now, sorry. Please stay tuned ;).

Second, school is crazy, as usual. I have Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology and there is A TON to memorize. We started working on the skeletal system last night for A & P... holy cow. This is going to be interesting...

Lastly, my family took a trip to California over the weekend! It was really, really fun. We left last Thursday to fly to San Diego and then drive over to Oceanside where our hotel was. We spent Friday and Saturday at Disneyland (I'd never been, it was awesome!), and then Sunday and Monday at Sea World. That was amazing. They were both great, but I really enjoyed the learning, interactive environment of Sea World. Monday evening we went to the beach and waded in the water, looked for shells, etc. That was so cool! I'd never seen the ocean before, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The whole week was a great experience and one that I will take the chance to do again, should the opportunity arise.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Okay. On a much different note from the funny random things that happen in my life, I wanted to let you all know that Kevin is now in town for school and on Tuesday we saw each other for the first time in over 25 months. It was a beautiful reunion and we are both very happy to be together again.

School is going pretty well. I started classes on August 24th so I'm a little ways into the term. I have discovered, however, that I need to change the way I study. Any suggestions on ways to study would be welcome.

As far as work goes: I did actually start at the theater again a couple weeks ago. Not as a manager. I work mostly as a projectionist, but do some concession shifts here and there, too. I'm really enjoying it. As for my other job, I turned in my two weeks notice on Tuesday night so my last day there will be the 22nd. I'll still go back to play cards with some of the residents sometimes ;).

And those are my updates in a nutshell. And now, I'm going to go do some last minute things to get ready for my date with Kevin tonight! I'm so excited!

More Randomness!

So once again my mom brought in the mail today, just a few minutes ago in fact. When I looked up she had a kind of confused look on her face and handed me yet another manila envelop. A much smaller one this time. Come to realize upon inspection that it is none other than one of the envelopes I sent to Kevin. Apparently he did in fact receive it, but it somehow got lost on its way back home to Oregon and is now here with me. I'll be giving it to him tonight ;).

Random Things Happen

So a funny thing happened today!

My mom came in with the mail this afternoon and said "Did you order anything?" I looked up and saw that she was holding a large manila(sp?) envelope. I replied that I hadn't but accepted the envelope when she handed it to me. I opened it, and what did I find? I huge pile of letters and such from Kevin's mission. Odd, he didn't mention sending anything to me... So I called him and asked if he had indeed sent me anything in the last couple weeks. He said he hadn't and I informed him that his package, which he had apparently, initially sent to himself, had somehow been sent to me instead... The best my mom and I can figure is that it got ripped or something, and they probably looked through and either my name was the first one that came out of the bag, or they figured out I was his girlfriend somehow, and sent it my way hoping it would make its way to him from there...

So yeah! There you have it, today's laugh out loud moment. Hope you enjoyed it! I sure did! ;D

Sleep Deprivation

So this week I've covered a couple shifts for a coworker in addition to my own. I tell you what, four graveyard shifts, three of them consecutive, can really wear a person down. What's it like to have a normal sleeping schedule? I haven't had one since I started working at the theater five years ago... Oh well. One day, right? ;)

On a happier note! I have been able to talk to Kevin quite a bit since his return home and it's been wonderful. It's really nice to hear his voice again, and be able to carry on a conversation with him. It's awesome to be able to ask him a question and not have to wait for a response from a letter! ;D He is doing very well; having fun catching up with friends and such. I'm so happy for him. Obviously, I am very excited to actually see him again in a few weeks, but I can be patient ;). After two years, three weeks is nothing. That doesn't mean I don't get a little antsy sometimes... but I can handle it ;).

Also! I got a sword yesterday! My dad was in Europe for a couple weeks this summer, so I gave him my price range and asked him to keep his eyes open for a sword. It's awesome! He got it in Rothenburg, Germany and mailed it from there. It's full-length and is called "King Solomon's Sword." It's really cool!

Life Continues...

Hello faithful viewers! Or readers, as the case may be ;). It has been a good amount of time since last I posted and I thought it was about time I updated you on what has been going on in my life...

Well, last month I found out that I am insulin resistant. Yep, more fun medical news for Catherine! At least now I know why I was struggling so much with my weight. Fortunately (I suppose) it's very "mild". I'm on some medication so hopefully with that, exercise and careful eating habits my body will start to function normally again.

I also got a job offer from a new assisted living center in the area. I would have been working three shifts instead of two, at nine dollars an hour instead of $7.25... but I didn't take it. I don't know all the reasons, but I felt anxious about it. I decided to pray and fast about it and felt at peace about not accepting the position so that's what I did. I know I made the right choice and now I just have to hope that eventually something else will come along that I am suppose to take. For now, I am where I'm suppose to be.

My mom and I went to a Girls' Weekend for her side of the family on July 31st/August 1st. It was a blast! We played games and visited and had a baby shower for two of my cousins, both of whom are expecting boys! And then we came back in the evening on the first, just making it to a wedding reception for two very good friends of mine, Kadie and Mark! Congratulations again, you two! I'm so thrilled for you!

For the last week and a half I have been house/cat sitting for a lady in my ward who is away on a cruise. The other day I went upstairs and opened a door in the bathroom that, come to find out, leads into a crawl space. For those of you who don't know, I am afraid of the dark and I definitely don't like dark, unfamiliar places. So what does the cat do? He goes walking out into the crawl space. Stupid cat. I couldn't just leave him in there so of course, I had to carefully maneuver around on the boards up there, terrified of missing one and going through the ceiling. Finally, when I was several boards into the crawl space the cat decided to come back. Thank goodness! So I got out of there right quick and picked him up when he was within reach, slamming the door behind us. I will never open that door again.

And last, but certainly not least! My boyfriend is home! Yay! For those of you who don't know, I started dating a young man from Oregon by the name of Kevin in Spring of 2007. He entered the MTC to begin his service in the Florida Ft. Lauderdale Mission on August 8, 2007. We've written throughout his mission and he is now home in Oregon! He'll be back here for school the beginning of September and I am extremely excited!

And there are my updates! I also went to Yellowstone with Emma and her family a couple weeks ago, and then to the Folk Dance Festival with a couple friends last week and those were both very enjoyable. I definitely recommend seeing both to any who might have the opportunity in the future.

I'll try to be better about doing regular posts, but for now I'm off!
